10% Off Prenatal Supplements

We are delighted to announce we are now offering all pregnant women 10% off their monthly supply of prenatal supplements. Offer available on selected products only.

It is important during pregnancy to support the growing foetus and mother with the correct nutrients. In store we offer Viridian Pregnancy Multivitamin and mineral and Terra Nova Prenatal multivitamin and mineral. This offer applies to either of these.

These supplements contain 100% active ingredients, with no artificial fillers and no nasties. Unlike other well-known high street brands which contain ingredients such as calcium carbonate, also known as chalk used as a food colouring and firming agent, microcrystalline, which is refined wood pulp and is used as a texturiser, an anti-caking agent, a fat substitute, an emulsifier, an extender, and a bulking agent, maltodextrin which impacts blood glucose regulation, starches which can upset bowels and common symptoms include gas, diarrhoea and cramps and also, talc, which is used as an anti-caking agent can negatively impact our overall health as it builds up in the system.

Most highstreet Pregnancy & Pre-Natal Supplements use fillers.

It is also extremely important to highlight that we will provide you with nutrients in their most active, natural forms. The majority of high-street well-known brands will contain important nutrients like vitamin B12, folic acid and iron in their synthetic form. In other words, you won’t benefit greatly from these as they won’t absorb into your system as well. For instance, vitamin B12 as cyanocobalamin is the most commonly supplemented form of vitamin B12 and is chemically synthesised. Methylcobalamin is found in animal-based foods and is therefore obviously naturally occurring. What’s more, folate is found mainly in dark green leafy vegetables, beans, peas and nuts. Fruits rich in folate include oranges, lemons, bananas, melons and strawberries. The synthetic form of folate is folic acid. The range of pregnancy supplements in store meet the Government’s daily recommendations for folic acid (folate) to support normal brain and spinal development of children. Folate also contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. Take into consideration iron, commonly present in its synthetic form ferrous fumerate but in the natural supplements it is called ferrous bisglycinate, which has been demonstrated to have at least two-fold higher bioavailability and absorption compared to conventional ferrous fumarate, while also resulting in improved oral tolerability during pregnancy.  The Pregnancy Multivitamins in store contain the researched levels of iron to contribute to cognitive development.

The natural supplements in store also contain the required amounts of vitamin D which is needed for the normal growth and development of bones in children. Vitamin C has been included to support the immune system, whilst the addition of vitamins B5 and B12 contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. The addition of beta carotene enables the body to safely produce appropriate levels vitamin A which is a particularly important for vision, skin and immune health.

Terra Nova Prenatal supplement contains a few extra nutrients including Kale, Bilberry, Beetroot & Spinach to help with overall health, supporting the gut and liver pathways.

Both supplements are suitable to take in trimesters 1, 2 and 3 as well as after birth when breastfeeding. We recommend taking Pregnancy Multivitamins alongside a Pregnancy omega-3 and probiotic to further support the changes in the mothers body and the growing foetus.

Our Nutritional Therapist Claire, has personally used both products in store during both her pregnancies and can personally recommend them. ‘’When you read up on the ingredients, it’s obvious that choosing natural supplements is undoubtedly better for both mum and baby. Some key benefits are less nausea, more energy, less constipation and great reassurance knowing you are providing baby with the natural more absorbable forms of folic acid and vitamin D. I advise continuing with them into the fourth trimester to support your changing levels of hormones and if breastfeeding.’’ – Claire Meakin.
